Below, we have a simple guide across multiple airlines highlighting their credit card policies when the card holder is not part of the traveling party.

  • Typically, this is a more frequent problem with Asian Airlines rather than airlines based in North America or Europe.
  • In most cases, if you verify the transaction online through an OTP, you will not be asked for a credit card. However, it is often difficult to establish if the transaction will go through the OTP process prior to booking the ticket.

This form has to be filled and completed by the payer of the ticket, including the relationship with the traveler. Once approved, the customer can proceed to purchase the ticket via the phone. You will have to request the airline to match the online price as you were unable to complete the ticketing requirements online.

The traveler has to carry the following documents:

  • photocopy of the front side of the credit card (expiry date may be masked) that was used for booking the ticket
  • photocopy of any of your government issued identity card.

Both of the above documents must be signed by the person booking the ticket with a note indicating that this is an authorized purchase. In addition to that, Arete Travel Hub also suggests writing a letter indicating the payment was authorized with the type of credit card, last 4 digits of the credit card, flight sectors involved, booking reference locator, ticket number, and the full name of all the passengers traveling for a simplified travel experience.

Westjet
